Brno, Sep 13 – (BD) British newspaper The Times has published a ranking of the best second and third cities in Europe to visit, hoping to highlight some of the lesser-known cities that European holiday-makers should choose for city breaks. Capital cities are always popular, but seeking other options can help avoid the tourist crowds and find some hidden gems, as any visitor to Brno can tell you. Last week, Prague was ranked as the world’s 7th best city by Time Out Magazine.
The Times ranked Brno as the 10th best non-capital city in Europe to visit, and the only Czech destination on the list. The newspaper praised Brno as a lesser-visited domestic alternative, with its medieval castle, impressive cathedral, and local wine scene. The feature also mentioned the student character of the city, and picked out Villa Tugendhat and the underground ossuary as key attractions.
